Hi, I'm new to fish and this site. My husband and i purchased a 20 gallon tank about two weeks ago. We came home set it up and ran the filter for a little over 24 hours. We went back to the store and bought 5 male guppies. 2 died by that night, but the other 3 are doing fine.
About a week after we added two male Gourami's. One was dead when we woke up the next morning, but the second is doing great.
We have 4 live plants, gravel bottom, a rock cave, and a decoration with holes to hide/swim through.
I have test strips that I've been testing the water with every other day. Levels are all where they should be except that the ph is around 8.3/8.4. But it's constantly here so I wasn't sure if it was a problem or not. I don't want to get any more for the tank until we know why the 4 died. Thanks for any advice!
