Another plant question

Just aquired my first Anubias today from a coworker that has been in the hobby for 20 years and has grown it for 5 years . I planned on trimming the fake leaves off (because they are old and dirty)of a decoration in my tank. Then tie it onto it with 100% cotton thread where the leaves once were. My question is should I tie it all the way around or just into the circular part of the decoration to the right side of the leaves. Here's a pic of the decoration.
