Any probs. with putting cheato in a QT during hypo?

What are you hypo'ing? What benefit are you expecting to gain from it? I seriously doubt that it would perform well enough to justify putting it in there. When I went through hypo what I REALLY needed was a place for the biological filtration to take place. I ended up putting dry base rock in there and letting that seed so that it would be able to carry some of the bioload for me. I still needed to do frequent water changes, but the fish came out of the process super healthy so it was worth it.

I'm hypo'ing the survivors of an ich outbreak. 2 Clown and a YT. It's week 4 now. I used the sponge block from my wet dry as the bio fiilter for the QT. Seems to have worked out well.

I just figured the cheato would help with any nittrates that are in the tank. Besides that, it seems the YT might be grazing off of it. I'd be throwing the cheato out anyway, as it's overgrowth from the sump.
