Are my fish safe?

I have neon tetras and a betta and some ghost shrimp in my tank. I added laterite to the tank and it made the water very cloudy. The box the laterite came in called this cloudiness "harmless" and said it will dissipate eventually.

It's been one day and the cloudiness has gotten better (with a couple partial water changes). Just wondering if it is safe to keep my fish in the tank while I wait for the cloudiness to go away?

Yes, its covered with at least an inch of gravel (little bits mixed within the gravel but nothing significant).
