I read Jack Wattley's article in the Jan 08 issue of TFH. He recommends 40-50% WCs daily. I have been thinking about trying Discus in my 55 gal, but I can't imagine manually doing that level of WCs. So I'm working on a method to automate it. So far, my plan is to drip drain 1 gal per hour through a hose controlling it with a ball valve. Then I plan to use a toilet fill valve to automatically keep the water at the right level. I purchased a valve today that looks like it will work, but I'm having a hard time getting the right hardware to connect it to my house water supply. I want to create a simple, low-cost reliable system. I'm fortunate to have accessible house water, but I need to get it plumbed into the tank. Does anyone have any better ideas than the path I'm heading down?
