Banana plants planting: please help

I bought some banana plants today but unsure how to plant them I asked the guy at the lfs but doesn't seem very knowledgable to me

Put the roots into your substrate, but make sure the"banana" part is not covered.

I just let mine sit on top of the substrate and send roots down as they grow, they don't stay in place as well but it works for me.

That's exactly what I did with mine. I could never get it to stay in one place. It finally rooted on it's on and looks like this.
