I just made a filter (for a new tank) and I don't know how long I have to run it, in my established tank, before sufficient bb has grown on my media. Any help?

As long as you can. Id say a week at least. If you start the new tank you will just have to test frequently for ammo

Cool. I can do a week. I'm not in a rush I just had no idea. Thanks J.

You sink thoes DIY rocks yet? got any pics?

I haven't because I found a spot that I completely missed with the grout. I'm going to put one or two coats on this week and then sink. I'll post a pic as soon as I dunk them.

Couldn't you just take some of the filter media out of your established tank filter, put it into the new filter and have the new tank be instantly (a couple days) cycled?

I thought of it but, since I'm not in a rush, I decided the path of less work was the better:)
