I'm new to fish. It's my boyfriend who takes care of our tanks. He's been doing it for years.

I'm starting to find it cruel that Bettas are sold/kept in those tiny jars at PetCo. BF said I could "rescue" one.

I was thinking of getting Fluval Spec 2.5 gallon. Would this be good for a single Betta?

I have no plans of adding anything else to the tank. Well, maybe a snail, and of course a plant.

Yeah, 2.5 or 5 would be considered the minimum for a Betta.
A lot of people keep them in Spec's so you should have no problems.

You could even add a few shrimp or that snail you mentioned, along with a some easy to keep plants.

Thanks. I'd like a 5. However, space is an issue. We have a studio in Brooklyn. And my BF already has a 5g and a 35g... And, I'm letting him get a 55g. So, not much space left. One file cabinet with enough room for the 2.5 on top.
