Betta fin rot

I have a Betta that I saved from PetsMart and he has been living in a 2.5 gallon tank. Recently his heater stopped working and he developed fun rot, presumably from the pet store. I believe that the temperature drop made it come out. I have ordered a new heater for his tank and have moved him to my community tank. So far he has only been resting so I am not worried about the other fish. When his heater gets here I will put him back in with some spi salt lot get rid of the rot. Meanwhile: is there anything I could do for him before then.

Lots of Clean fresh water will clear him up. Salt and many people including myself use IAL or Indian Almond leaves. They help with bacterial issues and the bettas appreciate the tannins in the water.
