My german blue male is 1.5" long. he has a red thing that is about as big as a 10th of a toothpick, and almost looks like a piece of toothpick sticking out of him on the left side of his anal fin. It comes out of his body, and lays against the anal fin, and you can only tell its not part of his color when he swims (the fin moves, the "thing" doesn't). I just treated my tank for camallanus worms with levamisole. Will do the second dose in 3 weeks. This fish has also had a 15 min bath in salt and methylin blue. Still, this red "splinter" sticks out of his side. The only thing i found in my research was an anchor worm, but this does not fork at the end. it appears to come out of him, and loop back up into him. I dont want to put my fish through more medication, but I dont want anything spreading. he is part of a pair, so i don't want to lose him. If anyone has seen this before, PLEASE advise!
