Hi guys. My girlfriend has a couple of amoxicillin left over from a course of antibiotics as they made her ill.

Can I use these to treat bluegreen algae? I hear that thats what other countries besides the uk do?

If so how do I go about doing this?

If not thanks for reading and sorry for wasting your time haha.

I wouldn't try myself as I wouldn't now how to go for the amount needed.

Okie doke. Will do it the regular way. Cheers

Some cyanobacterias have PBP that make them immune to penicillins, so it might not even work at all. The dosing concern is a pretty big factor.

I would just stick with Erythromycin.

Me too. I've tried blackouts and peroxide, but Erythromycin is the most effective.

Yeah I bleached the entire tank and ornaments from top to bottom, threw out the gravel and bought new stuff, then treated with erythromycin. Then the algae was gone and never came back.
