I know this is some type of favia or favites brain coral, but I'm not exactly sure which. Anyone more knowledgable than I have any insight? Do these just vary from one to the next, making it hard to know exactly which type you have?

That one looks like a brain Favia to me. On a Favia, it will have a complete wall surrounding the mouth of each polyp, whereas Favites will share 1 wall between separate polyps. At least this is what I've been told. Hope this helps!

Excellent. That's what I have been calling it, but I have wanted to know for sure, and to know how to tell the difference. Thanks!
