Breeding shrimp for food?

Since I have a 10 gallon tank, and I don't overly have any plans for it, I was wondering if it would make a good breeding tank for shrimp.They will be fed to my African cichlids. But since I have never owned shrimp I really need help on this. I need allot of information about them

Shrimp make a good treat for Africans but do not let it become a staple. I understand large amounts if protein is bad for them, causing the famous Malawi bloat. That said, I am cycling my first ever shrimp tank too. Good luck!
