bubbles on gravel

i have started 1 fishless cycle..using a friends gravel..now i started a 2nd fishless cycle..with new graverl..why is there tiny bubbles all over the gravel....

Could just be from either filling the tank or dropping the gravel in (this happens to my sand sometimes if I add new sand, it gets bubbles on the surface). It should go away.
