What can I use to clean the outside of the tank, that is not dangerous to the fish? The hood and glass have build up of mineral deposits, that will not come off with just water. Can I use vinegar and rinse with water? My PH is really high 8.2, so I am not really worried about a couple of drops of vinegar making the PH get too low, but I am wondering if the vinegar will have some other negative effect on the fish.

I'd recomend a vinegar/water mix, it'll work just fine on water spots, maybe a 1:1 ratio?

I know Python makes a tank safe glass cleaner that from the smell of it, is made with vineger, that's what I use just cuz it came free with my hose lol;)
