Should my drop checker be in my tank permanently? the instructions that came with it said leave it in for 6 hrs, but every picture i see of other planted tanks have them in .
 
If your using CO2 in your tank, it needs to be in there continuously to monitor CO2 levels. Unless your using a PH controller.
 
Yea, just leave it in the tank. It's not hurting anything by being in their, and can potentially save something's life if something fails.
