This grew in my old reef (left in Cali. ) it was a little smaller than a dime when I first noticed it and it grew to this in about a year or so (maybe less cant remember now)...

I am refering to the plate looking coral..
Any idea to what it is?

Kinda hard to tell, is it hard or soft?

If hard, my guess is a Montipora. If soft, kinda looks like a mushroom.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi
No it was a stony type plate...wish I still had it, It was growing like a weed when I moved..the growth was getting very quick (around 2-3 new bands every other week!!)

Scariest thing is that everyone talks about doing weekly water changes etc....I Jus used to top off my tank with some water from a water store with a 12 stage filter system...I think I proabably bought maybe a bag of salt once a year if that.....

Anyways thanks....
