Common name/s: Debauwi Catfish, African Glass Catfish
Scientific name: Pareutropius Buffei
Origin: Africa
Maximum Size: 3"
Temperature range: 75-81 degrees F
pH range: 6-7.5
Diet: Omnivore
Description: The Debauwi Catfish is a very active fish swimming in the top levels of your aquarium. They have horizontal stripes going down the sides of the body.
They can be kept in most community aquariums. They will eat small fish fry, such as guppy fry.
Care: Debauwi Catfish should have a minimum of 10 gallons as they are a schooling fish and do best in groups of 3 or more. They prefer floating vegetation as this makes them feel more comfortable. They will eat almost all food put in the aquarium. They will eat too much so be careful not to over feed. Overall they are a hardy and easy to care for aquarium fish.
Personal Experience: Debauwi Catfish love floating wisteria and I make sure to include it in every one of the aquariums I keep them in. They like more dense floating aquarium plants such as wisteria and egeria densa.
