Diatom Powder question

Ugh! My magnum filter drives me nuts!

I have such a difficult time hooking up my spare magnum filter and running it with diatom powder (the filter itself is the problem).

I just spent about an hour messing with the stupid thing, got water every where and just decided to give up.

My question- can I put the diatom filter in my main Eheim filter and just let it run, or would the powder clog up my filter/cause problems?

No.

The powder coats itself around the magnums cartridge. A regular canister filter will not even catch the very fine diatom powder.

Plus diatom powder starts to really bog down filters because the filtering size is sooo small.
