Disturbing the fish

Hello everybody.
As some of you know I've recently had a disaster in my aquarium. Most of my fish are dead. So now I only have 6. I was wondering. I would like to rearrange my tank and add more sand in. Would it be better to take the fish out? Or is it fine to leave them in?

It may be better to leave them in. Taking them out may be more stressful

I would leave them in. A lot of people will say take them out though, but I've changed things, added plants, and changed substrates twice now with all my fish staying in the aquarium and have had no issues at all
