Got a gorgeous gold nugget pleco at my fave lfs yesterday. Pricey, but what the heck. I don't spend that much often and besides, I can claim him as a Mother's Day gift.

I assumed that all plecos eat algae. Dummy head. In doing some research last night, many sites indicate that this pleco does not.

So, what can you tell me? Yes, no, maybe? It's not an issue if he doesn't, as I don't purchase species just to do a job, but it would be a bonus if he does.

:thanks:

They're omnivores like most plecos
They will eat algae but when food is scarce.
but they won't go around munching on algae like BristleNosePlecos or otos

Thanks.

Do you know if plecos are pretty compatible together, as far as keeping various species?

Plecostomus can be very territorial more likely with the same species
Need tons of "caves" little spots for them to call their own

The caves aren't an issue.

What do you think about the gold nugget with some bristlenose?

they are a very beautiful pleco i have one also . hes the king of the pleco tank
