I'm wondering whether or not I need to keep my air pump on all the time.
I have a 160L tank from AquaOne with an AquaOne filter that I think is a 300/400.
It's also worth noting that I have two live plants in my aquarium.

Edit- for an air driven filter sponge it just a bubbler.

An air pump with an air stone will add a little oxygen to the tank water. If you have a filter with a gallon per hour (gph) rating of 160 or more and change most of the tank water every week, you don't need it at all.
