dosing references?

hey,

I've been searching for information on dosing FW planted tanks and unfortunately couldn't find anything other than guides telling me how much of what i should dose. Does anyone know of a good website where i can find actual information on why to dose each micro/macro element, Including how it affects the ecosystem?

Do you mean what certain elements do to plants?

Edit* like iron, nitrogen, potassium, and other trace elements
