Just bought some Mopani from petco. Can I just rinse or do I need to do something special to it - boil etc...?

Lots of people recommend soaking it since it will leach tannins. I just got one from a LFS just rinsed it out good with hot water and put in my tank.

You can boil it. I didn't have anything big enough to boil mine in. Is at least rinse it. I've been using Purigen and so far my water is actually somewhat clean.

Hello Bb...

Mopani wood is pretty hard. Those pieces can be rinsed in some of your replacement water and put into the tank. Most will sink immediately. If not, you can weigh them down with some large rocks. These will give the tank a natural look. I've used rocks I picked up around the local river beds. See what you can find.
