Drilling slate

Quick question: to drill a hole in slate for driftwood do I use an old drill bit or a cement bit?

Either will work, although the carbide bit is preferable.

Carbide will work great a cement bit will work too but slower

Used one of my cheapy bits, worked great!

I use el cheapo bits to do it also, just keep some water nearby to pour onto the bit while you are doing it. You may sacrifice a bit or two using this method.

Drilled 3 pieces and it went quick. Thought about using water but didn't need it.
