I just noticed this yesterday and although the fish doesn't seem in pain or lethargic or anything. But I'm still worried, the back end of her looks almost like it's inside out? Theres no discoloration or redness and she seems to be eating fine and is as active as always. Here are some pictures. Any ideas???

OK. In that case, she may have laid eggs that you never saw because they were eaten either by a tankmate, or by the parents. Its really common for fish to eat their first egg batch or so. Or, she may have ready to breed, but the male wasn't.

Hmm It must have been the male then. I watched them pretty closely as soon as I noticed her tube sticking out and the only thing I found odd was the male seemed completely uninterested in her.

Well, she is a nice-looking girl, so hopefully he gets his act together!
