Aquarium Advice Regular
Hi, I have Eheim Wet Dry Filter with three hoses.
Out - to spray bar
In - to Intake hook
Breather - to a ball-valve
Situation 1: Contineous flow.
I fill the filter with water by sucking on the out hose. Once full and there are no air gaps I turn it on and it starts to work as conineous flow (which I don't need). Breather hose has it's ball valve closed.
Problem:
So, I open the breather valve. Filter starts to suck in the air and spits all the ater out back in a tak in attempt to overflow it (good that I'm testing it in the kitchen by the sink!) Then it starts to "gasp" and the air pocket appears in the intake hook; later water level in output pipe goes down with each gasp until the filter makes "drrrr" noise (water out, impeller dry) At this point I turn it off to prevent impeller / motor damage.
What could I be doing wrong?
Please help.
