I just started my 36 tank yesterday.
I used half established water from my larger tank, half fresh mixed, media filter running biopellets, fluval clearmax, and fluval ammonia reducer. I also have in the Green Machine or whatever UV sterilizer. I also put in about 40lbs of liverock, also from my established tank.
Added 40 lbs of crushed coral-made water super cloudy.
Question is, I know that powerfilters can be nitrate factories...mine are off the charts. I have the two penguin filters in there, and also some more biopellets.
I was wondering, since there is so much room for extra media, could I take all the media out, leave the balls, and fill it with fuge mud, macro algae, and LR rubble? Then obviously a light.
Think that would work?
Better ideas?
