I have a 26 gallon bowfront that is 21" tall, and came with 18" 8000K 15 watt T8 light.

Can this light in any way support an anubias plant growing on lava rock 2" from the bottom?

If not am I looking at a whole new setup, or can I get a different 18" bulb that will fit with my current hood?

Thanks!

Depending on the anubias species- but it should live. It likely will even grow a little. T5 bulbs wattage are different than t8 on your "wpg" rule so you can get by with a little less. No rush, but when you replace your bulb, try to get closer to the 6500k range to hinder algae growth. I would also suggest putting in some java moss, java ferns, and maybe hornwort, wisteria, or other fast growing low light plants to steal nutrients from algae as well.

You'd be amazed what you can keep alive with low light. Although "keep alive" and "thrive" are two different things... But less maintenance. ;)
