Feeding fish?

I added two mollies too my 28 gallon tank yesterday(they're my first fish too be put in the tank), an I've read the instructions on the flake food bottle, and the whole feeding them as much as they can eat in whatever amount of time really makes no sense to me, specially since they don't even come up for the food. So could someone else give me a general idea of how much food to put in the tank per day.

I just make sure that my fish are eating. If they aren't actively coming up to eat then they probably aren't hungry, so I'd hold off on feeding them till they are more actively feeding.

try feeding every other day, they might be more eager to eat then.
