I'm setting up a new 55 gallon tank and I'm curious how many capfuls of ammonia do I need to add to get the ball rolling? Any insightful tips?

Not sure about the ammonia off the top of my head, but you can take some of the seed material from your other tanks. That will help immensely.

If I remember right, it took me about 30 drops with an eye dropper but your best bet is 10 at a time and then test. Then add another 10 and test again. Cap fulls will NOT be necessary.

You can use fish food as well. In SW, we use raw, unseasoned jumbo shrimp for an ammonia source...
