freshwater to brackish puffer

Hey all, i need some help. I have a new 40 gal tank that is about to begin its cycle, and i want to put 2 figure 8 puffers in it. I know they are slightly brackish, but my LFS, like many others, sell them in freshwater. Once my tank is cycled, i plan on adding them while it is fresh water, but does anyone know a safe/easy way to turn it to brackish water over time. I heard they like 1.005. I don't want to startle my new fish by putting them directly into brackish. Any ideas??
