Any help appreciated. I had posted pictures on Reddit a couple times about a white spot that appeared on my betta’s side about a month ago. I first noticed a scale looked lifted, then it turned white, and today this bubble. I thought it was a benign tumor. Very concerned.
Tank is 10g, heated to 80 degrees. I use an Aqueon 20 filter. I use the api master test kit (liquid). Ammonia 0 (possibly .25ppm, I have trouble reading the color) nitrite 0, nitrate 5.0ppm. These were the readings before I did a water change. Ph is 8.0. It seemed high so I added some almond leaves that have been in the tank for a week. I do 30-40% water change once a week. Tank also includes a mystery snail and Nerite snail. Tank is planted and I feed hikari bio gold 7-8 pellets a day.
There has been a heat wave where I live but I haven’t noticed the temperature in the tank fluctuating much, more than a couple degrees from 80-82. Tank also has an air stone.

Photos are from most recent (first two were taken yesterday) to a few weeks ago, to about a month ago when I first noticed the lifted scale, to give you some chronology. When the spot turned white, some people suggested that it might be a benign tumor that can occur in dragon scale bettas. Any help is appreciated, I am very concerned.

Hello, there are a couple causes for gas bubble disease that I know of. They need to be addressed as soon as possible. It not only causes external tissue damage but can cause internal damage as well.
1= if tank is saturated w/micro bubbles. This is when whole tank looks cloudy from bubbles in water collum.
2= a sudden drop or rise in water temp when doing water changes. Cooler water holds more dissolved gases be it in tank or water change. Enters fish through gills, then blood, warms & forms the gas bubbles.
I personally did the water change mistake by using the cheap tank thermometers you get at petco. The thermometer mounts failed & glass slid almost 10 degrees off. Long-short I put hotter than normal water & caused this.
To treat I used aquarium salt. 1teaspoon aquarium salt per gal of tank volume. Dissolve in tank water. I like to use a jar w/tight fitting lid & shake. Then add 1/3 solution every 30min to acclimate fish to salt. The salt promotes slime coat, gill function, draws fluid from blister & prevents fungus & infection.
Some may say to but do not use melafix on Betta fish. They are a labyrinth fish & tea tree oil will damage that.
I also changed thermometer. Now I use this instant read meat thermometer. A little pricey but no more mistakes & way easier to read. Hopefully this helps you!!!!!Screenshot_20220617-111447~2.jpg
