I just have a few questions about breeding GBRs. My first question is how long after the pit is dug should I expect eggs to be layed? Since I just got them and this would be the first spawn I don't expect anything to survive but just in case. I keep them in a tank with the pair of rams and about 15 neon tetras. Would the neon tetras eat the eggs, or fry? Also I have a Hang on back filter, would that suck them in? If so how do I stop that from happening? Thanks for any replies.

Cut a sponge big enough to fit over the filter intake and then that should solve sucking up the fry. Mine constantly dig pits but I put flat stones in for them to lay their eggs on.

It maybe rams can get picky. Slate is the best bet because it's flat. I have flat pieces of river rock which they're happy with.
They should be okay though

Alright I'll go buy some slate today, thanks again.
