Ghost shrimp or nitrite snail?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an interest in aquariums or fish keeping!

nitrites are bad for fish tanks. you could consider a nerite snail. shrimp if you prefer. :D

You do not need to choose, they are not mutually exclusive.

Nerite Snails, if you get a female (and I have no idea how to tell) will likely lay eggs everywhere -- they do not degrade, they are just little sesame seed like things all around randomly. Bothers some people, not others; sometimes they don't lay at all. They did for me.

I have both in a 45G. I find the ghost shrimp far more interesting. But both are pretty much zero maintenance.
