Good starter plants?

I have a 55 gallon tank, with LED lights. Its still new and is in the process of cycling. I would like it to be planted, with preferably colorful plants. I just have no idea where to begin or what will be ok with the LEDs. Any advice?

I'd look at low light plants unless you have the LED spotlights that are very pricey. I grow lots of plants under LEDs but my tank is only a 10g. so less issues with penetrating to the substrate
