I don't have a lot of hair algae. Small patches here and there only on a few little rocks. Saw a margarite snails eating some today. Ill just stick with the water changes. Looking to making a bigger HOB fuge. How big is too big for my 35 gallon. I have a aqua c remora. HOB Skimmer. 2 gallon? Max maybe. I dunno if I would want to add too much weight on the back

Is a sump not an option?

I had problem with hair algae too. Thin stripe hermit crab was the answer. He mowed it down in a couple of days. My emerald crab didn't even touch hair algae, nor my scarlet crabs.
