Hello,

I’m new to the forums. I kept solo bettas for years and just upgraded to a 40 gallon tank. I’m working on creating a community tank that can include a betta. It currently has 4 otos and some cherry shrimp as well as 2 (remaining) Serpae tetras (which I need to return because they’re slaughtering each other and NOT good community fish).

This is my current set-up.

Welcome. Your tank looks great.
The majority of deep bodied tetras are nippers and need to be in a large group.
If you want a peaceful tetra to go with your betta try something like rummynose or cardinal tetras. I personally have black neons and I love them. They are very hardy, cheap and fun to watch.

I found a place with rummy nose and those will be my next addition once I rehome the little Serpae beasts.
