I had a gorgeous 150 gal freshwater aquarium. A few days ago, all 150 gals leaked out causing a tremendous horrible mess. I want to replace the tank but fear another possible catastrope. Has anyone heard of an aquarium drain similar to a washing machine drain?

PS - Floors, carpet, ceilings gone but all fish survived!

where did it leak from?

washing machine drain? or are you talking a control valve?

Wait ceiling? What kind of leak did you have? Hmm, no not really heard of something like that..maybe if you showed us a picture of what it looks like.

Sounds like the tank was on the second floor. Did you level out the stand before adding water to the tank? Did you check to make sure it was still level after adding water?

A glass 150g will weigh nearly 1500lb after it's been filled and decorated. If it's slightly out of level, it'll stress the glass enough to crack it or break the seams. You'll need a good stand and a solid floor to house a tank that large. Make sure you place the tank perpendicular to the joists.
