Aquarium Advice Activist
Two weeks ago I went on a five day scuba diving trip. I cleaned the aquarium very well with a forty percent water change. I purchased an automatic feeder, installed it and off I went. When I came back, I did another big cleaning to make sure. I also did a water quality test. The Nitrate is around 40 or 50 so I did a fifty percent water change to bring it down and cleaned the bottom more deeply than usually.
This morning while enjoying my fish I saw a piece of debris moving horizontally. I came to remove it and noticed it’s not debris; it’s a tiny baby fish. I looked for more but nothing, only one. Either I vacuumed them all up without noticing them or more likely they all got eaten by the other fishes.
I’m not doing anything to breed fish. I also thought my fish are too young to have babies. They average eight centimeters. I don’t think they are one year old yet.
How can this be possible?
And now that it happened, what do I do if it happens again?
