how come pet shops dont know about cycling fish tanks?

Went to the pet store today and asked for ammonia and the lady looked at me like I was a crazy person. She said "ammonia is toxic to fish I would never sell such a thing" I said its to cycle my fish tank and she told me to buy this product to cycle it. Dont these 'fish specialist' know anything besides shoving a fish in a small tank over crowding them

They only sell what they have. Where are you located, i had to buy my ammonia on eBay.

Further to that, bacteria in a bottle is not all that great, so i hope you avoided it.
