I've previously used API Test kit and just recently bought the SALIFERT nitrate kit. I've read the instruction that it should be read from the TOP, How is that is it literally looking directly downward?

Tested my water:
API reads 40ppm
SALIFERT reads 10ppm (from the top) & 100ppm (when looking from the side)

Help please.

Sounds like you have 10 nitrate. :-D The reading it from the side is multiplied by 10x so it makes sense.

So i can read from the side and just divide it by 10 then, Nice!

Thanks carey!

You take the test out into decent daylight, place the OPEN test tube under the colours on the white part of the card, then look through the top.

Crap method I agree, why they just didn't design it to look though the side I'll never know.

Wait until you try the Kh, cal Nd mag saliferts, you need a degree in chemistry to perform those!

I saw some salifert testing kit tutorial on youtube, and they do look complicated.
