For those of you who have completed your fishless cycle...

How long did your fishless cycle take?
How long did it take for your ammonia to go down?

On tanks with a heater set to around 78F: usually around 4 weeks. I'd say about 10 days for the ammonia phase and the remaining 20 days for the nitrite phase. I keep the tanks dosed to 4ppm ammonia and do large PWCs as needed to keep the nitrites from getting too high and stalling the cycle. I've done it with and without "bottled bacteria" and didn't find a significant difference.

On tanks with no heater: 2-3 months.

Every tank is different and every tank will cycle in it's own time. It took my most recent tank almost 60 days to fishless cycle. 29 days for ammo to be consumed, 9 days for nitrite to show up, and then 21 more day for nitrite to be consumed and nitrates to appear.
