how much sand

I have about 1.5 inches of a sand coral mix in my 29 gallon tank. Is that enough? Also, can i just add more sand on top of the san i have?

you really dont need sand. Ive seen multiple tanks with nothing as substrate

I only have 1-2 inches of sand in my tank. You should be OK.

As long as you don't have any animals that like to borough through the sand and need a deeper than average sandbed, then any depth should be fine. I would at least use an inch of sand however.

If you are using crushed coral and sand, the CC will end up on the top and will need to be cleaned otherwise it starts looking really bad. I had the CC/sand in my 1st tank and it lasted about 6 months until I decided to get the CC out.
