HOW TO ACCLIMATE MY FISH AND CORALS TO 1134 Watts SYSTEM?

Hello all,

I have a 125 gallon tank (72" long) with 8 T5s that give 342 Watts. I am anticipating the arrival of the Coralife MH/PC that gives a total of 1134 Watts. I was advised to place all the corals low on the bottom and that's what I will do. However, at 24" deep I am concerned about the "light shock" that may "melt" the corals even at the bottom. What should I do to ensure a smooth transition to the new light output? Thanks DP

I would suggest some window screen material. Maybe several layers thick and remove a layer a week. That should help them acclimate them to the new lighting.

Acclimation

In the latest book by Bob Fenner, he says that acclimation to new MH can be done by using "shorter periods" with full power. Can you advise me on the duration with these "shorter periods"? Thanks

I dont agree with everything Bob Fenner says so I cant help you on that. I have seen the window screen used before with good results.
