you would be correct sir! the "coral" in question however happens to be the reddish brown circular thing in the lower middle of the picture. since switching from my 10w 50/50 to my 18watt par 38 trupop LED fixture though this thing has started to extend what i think are polyps and get white dots in the middle of it. pretty interesting, almost like its growing.

I don't think it is a coral. If anything it is either a sponge, I doubt it personally, or some odd algae growth... TBH this one is a real mystery.

I've never seen a sponge or algae take on a symmetrical look. This looks more like a colony of some type of coral although I have no idea what type

Almost looks like a Favia or Acan with the polyp heads all faded out.

Since I got my new par38 it seems to be slowly springing to life! Little "hairs" are coming off of it with little green dots at the top of them ( I think they're green), with conical tubes coming out of the middle of each "circle". Maybe the more time with the good lighting will provide a better view!
