Is my platy really pregnant?

I got a male and a female platy months ago. He’s always bothering her, and mating with her. She will blow up, and then it’s like she’s not pregnant anymore. Her bottom seems a bit open as if she’s ready to pop some out but never does! it’s been months and I’ve never seen a baby.

might be that they are eating the babies ?
do you have any floating plants in there so the babies can hide?

I put her in the breeding box and she birthed empty eggs. I’m assuming she’s stressed out, I’m looking to get a heater for my 20 gal so she can be in there by herself, so she can be alone

That is strange. It is probably stress related. I would suggest getting a few more females to spread the male's attention. Might bring the stress down enough for her to get the fry to full term development.
