I have a fern Thats been in 20g tank since the start...about 3 months. Since week 2 its had roots in the mother plant ...which now have large leaves. Do i try to separate...or will they release themselves? Seems a very long time now?

In the life of a plant, 3 months is not very long. From what I learned from Rivercats, a planted tank takes about 6 months to become stable. There are periods of growth and periods of dormancy. Great that you are in a period of growth. I would wait a little while just to be sure. can't hurt.
Good luck.....Dwayne

ok...thanks for reply D.....my tank consistently reads zero on all levels
..bar nitrate which is around 10. just wondering if i should leave them be

God bless that Rivercats :)

She is exactly right. More time the better really. Java Fern also will release the baby plants when the time is right. I looked into one of my tanks the other day to see a new Java Fern planted on my DW.
