I set up my new 45 gallon planted tank on Thursday when my plants came in. So far they look good except for my dwarf lily bulb which is still floating more than 60 hours later, and not it looks like my Java Moss might be turning brown. I am doing a fishless cycle. Should I be concerned about the moss or will it be OK once the water parameters are good?*Yesterday afternoon*they were.

PH- 7.6

Ammonia 2

Nitrites 0

Nitrates 5

KH* 50

GH* 50

Water temp is 79.3 and I am using the Fluval 3.0 plant light. Set on the Auto, Sunrise 2 hours daylight 8 hours sunset 2 hours moon light 4 hours.

I am using easy green fertilizer and tabs in the plants in the gravel. Last time I put the easy green in was thursday because the bottle says to use once a week...
This tank does not have Co2 hooked up to it.

I am new to this so any advice would be appreciated.

You need that lily bulb planted 3/4 in substrate and weigh it down with a rock. I have a fabulous lily sporting gorgeous colors from my tank bottom underneath a glassy black volcanic glass rock.

I did have a second bulb that looks dead after three weeks, but !!!!!! It took three weeks for the first bulb to sprout. I was patient and then I looked one day and saw a magic fully formed baby lily appear nearly overnight.

P.s. my second lily looks identical to the first that has a plant, looks awful black rotten covered in god knows what muck and dead. But I guess that’s just poopy imaginarium bulbs for you? Or how the plant rolls.

P.p.s.
I use Fluval shrimpy substrate, the little black floofs, don’t overly submerge the bulb in a compact substrate or a rock substrate as this will encourage rotting. xx these are fickle.

Sorry as for your Java moss? I swore off all moss except small carefully placed swatch’s of Christmas moss. It’s a gorgeous vibrant green that loves the sick high alkaline high mineral Florida dechlor tap water.

All moss I have accumulates, everything as in poop, algae, biofilm, etc. the moss I only use these for shrimp hidey holes now where it won’t be unsightly. I can’t yet figure out how to have a pristine moss unless I have no fish or shrimpy livestock. Sorry I couldn’t help more.

Most moss ships partly browned. If your moss likes your setup I have never had an issue growing it in any tanks, even salted ones. After a few weeks it takes. Plant growth in low tech setups is slow. This seems to be true for my moss as well. But some of the pro you tubers make it look like it’s magic and so easy. I eventually added 200 watts of LED muted below 60% output (not sure of the technical equivalence) , CO2, and a ton of gear and all my plants are crazy jungle beasts now. Including the swatches of moss. I realized I couldn’t aqua scape and keep my fishes happy without these additions
