Just been given a 21 g (80L) tank

Hi all,

I've just been given an 80 litre tank, it's been stood for a while empty, I've just filled it and left it for 4hours to check for leaks, bonus there aren't any .
What's the best thing to clean it with ? I'm not sure what they had in it before.. Or how long or where it has been kept..
This will be my nursery tank for the guppies.. Once it's cycled

I would try vinegar; rinse it very well and let it air dry. Some people use a 1 part bleach to 19 parts water solution, rinse extremely well and then rinse with dechlorinator like Prime and let it sun dry but personally I would be wary of using bleach unless you have to. Vinegar seems safer.

I have put the filter medium in my 200L filter to help it colonise with good bacteria, roughly how long would you suggest I leave it there? I'm in no rush
Also how many guppies and platys could I put in there ? Once sorted
